    • Undergraduate students in the Laptop TELE model will receive a default set of software applications as well as course-specific licensed software for their UOIT laptop.
    • Course specific software may be pre-installed to the UOIT device or may require download via LANDesk.

    • Undergraduate students participating in the BYOD TELE model will receive software through the UOIT Software Portal.
    • The software available on the UOIT Software Portal is dependent on course enrolment.

    • Graduate students are eligible to receive UOIT licensed software where UOIT's existing licence agreements permit.
    • The most commonly requested software applications are available through the UOIT Software Portal.

    Faculty and Staff will have software either preinstalled on their UOIT device or will be available through LANDesk.  Please confirm that the software is not already on your computer.  If you have not participated in the yearly software refresh, you may have older or expired versions which will need to be uninstalled before proceeding.

    If additional software is required for you or a course you are teaching that was not identified during the software selection process, please:

    • Complete the Software Form indicating the software required and the reason for the request.
    • Select SUBMIT on the software adjustment form (ensure that Outlook is running) and it will automatically be forwarded to ITS.
    • Where licenses need to be purchased and a cost is involved, ITS will contact the appropriate budget holder for approval.  
    • Once the software has been procured, the faculty/staff member will be contacted with details regarding how the software will be deployed.

    Faculty members who teach undergraduate courses will receive the same software as the students enrolled in their course.  Please note that the software is provided for undergraduate teaching purposes only. Please contact to confirm license coverage for other uses (such as academic research).


    Current university employees can acquire a licensed copy of Microsoft Office for their use - at no additional cost! Sign into the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus page with your network login to view further details regarding this offer.


I can't find the software that I require for my course.  What do I do?

If there is specific software that you do not have and is listed as being requested for your course, please email the IT Service Desk or call 905.721.3333, option 1 and a service desk technician will be pleased to assist you.

How do I get a copy of Microsoft Windows and Office when I graduate?

  • Upon graduating, undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for a full perpetual Microsoft Office licence and a Windows OS upgrade licence (at the latest version available at the time of their date of graduation).
  • Please visit OnTheHub to access your copy of Windows and Office. Availability of this offering is subject to change.
Important note:  This Microsoft offer expires on May 27, 2019 and will not continue for graduating students in future years
