The list below represents software provided to undergraduate and faculty members for use in academic programs for the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science.  Please note that students:

  • the specific software applications that are provided to each student and faculty member are dependent on course or academic program requirements.
  • students or faculty members may be required to use additional UOIT licensed software applications or services that are not listed in the software summary below.

Students will receive a wide range of industry-relevant program specific software.
HARDWARE All laptop models are tested and configured to meet the needs of the program and are predetermined in the spring of each year.  View details about the student laptop eligibility and refresh.  Students may also be eligible to purchase their laptop upon graduation if they have met the necessary requirements.
HARDWARE REPAIR All warranty and non-warranty hardware repairs are completed on-site by certified technicians.  Additional charges may apply for non-warranty repairs.
LOANER LAPTOPS Students with laptops that require repair will be loaned a laptop at no additional cost until their unit is ready for pick up (subject to availability).  
EXAM SUPPORT Upon faculty request, technical support is provided during in-class examinations where emergency loaner laptops are available in the event of hardware or software failure.
INSURANCE (for lost or stolen hardware) TELE provides insurance for all students in the Laptop TELE model.  The deductible charge for a lost or stolen institutionally owned laptop can be used only once while the student attends UOIT.  Information on insurance and instructions if a laptop is lost or stolen.

TELE FEES (2018-19)

Students participating in the Laptop TELE model pay a mandatory fee based on the area of study and number of courses taken by the student each year and/or semester. Fees are directed to the cost of delivering the Technology Enriched Learning Environment and any funds remaining at year end will be applied to the future costs of the program.
